As with any garden, composting plays an important role and will also be discussed in this course along with several other issues that are critical to school garden success. Start composting lunchroom food scraps at your school with a large worm bin! The Solana Center offers a Lunchroom Vermicomposting Program that assists schools with the creation of a large worm bin to compost school-wide!

Program Highlights:

  • 45 minute vermicomposting presentation
  • Initial set up of large worm bin
  • Includes all materials (bin, worms, scale, signs)
  • Periodic monitoring and ongoing technical assistance from a Master Composter
  • Follow-up consultations and additional program assistance as needed
