The Solana Center Composting Program hosted a booth at the first annual Sustainability Fair at the California Center for Sustainable Energy in San Diego. This fair, while open to the public, really reached out to the business community with ideas for “green building”, solar power, recycled products, and even organic catering! Naturally, there was a lot of interest in composting and Master Composter Kimberly and Compost Program Manager Rachel B. were on hand to answer all questions and get people started on the path to zero waste! One of our favorite booths displayed a green roof, with some beautiful native plants to use and purify rainwater, even before it hits the streets! Check out Building Green Futures website to get started on your own.
The Solana Center thanks the City of San Diego, SDGE, and the Center for Sustainable Energy for having a composting booth at the Fair! On the Sustainability Fair website, you can download pdfs of the sustainability talks given throughout the day and see photos of the booths.
